Things to Look For When Installing a GPS Tracker in a Repair Shop
The following are things that need to be considered when we ask the repair shop for help to install a GPS tracker:
1. Prepare the GPS tracker and the sim card first until it is active. The setting method is here. Make sure when we send the command: URL# can get a google maps link.
2. Determine the installation position of the GPS tracker. Usually, we install it on the front dashboard.
3. Pay attention to the wiring diagram. The instructions are here. Make sure not to let the repair shop install it reverse, especially the power. Connect the 12 VDC power cable until the power led continues (charging).
4. Connect the ACC cable to the car ignition key indicator.
We can check with the command: STATUS#.
- If the car ignition key is ON, it replies ACC: ON.
- If the car ignition key is OFF, it replies ACC: OFF.
5. Connect the relay cable to cut off electricity to the engine (we usually plug it in the output of the car ignition key).
- Check by starting the car engine, then send the command: RELAY,1#.
If successful, the engine will stop, and the engine cannot be started again. - Reconnect the car's power connection by sending the command: RELAY,0#.
If successful, the car engine can be started again.
6. For the microphone and SOS button position, the placement can be adjusted by yourself (don't make it look conspicuous).
7. Drive the car until it changes position, then check it with the command: URL#. If there is a new position changed, it means that the GPS tracker is Ready to Go!
